Learning Photoshop CS5, and somewhat teaching myself the program was challenging to say the least, but it was cool to feel like a Photoshop pro for a bit.
This program has so many features that I didn't even touch, so if you really like the program and your trial is up, buy it, teach yourself, and have fun!
I'm sure there is someone out there that hasn't used Photoshop...don't worry you are not alone! This blog will guide the beginners to fool someone into thinking you're a PRO!

Photo 10- Lots of Laughs Wanted
Before
For my last and final photo I wanted to have fun, that's why I used an image of my niece. First I found the "wanted" image to use as a background, used the lasso tool and carried both images onto one, used the free transform tool to enlarge the image, and clicked layers and multipied the image.

Photo 8- Stand Out with an Umbrella
Before
This photo is different form the others, I figured I would try a photo with a person in it. This photo had a great background, but it was too dull. Obviously I enhanced the color of the dress, shoes, and umbrella. Also I changed the sky into a colorful rainbow to tie in with the vibrant colors. To make the woman stand out more I blurred the rest of the image besides her using the Gaussian blur.

Photo 7- Magic Mushrooms This Way
Before
This photo had a lot of potential it was dull, and nothing stood out. That made it easier to just go with the flow. I used the crop tool to crop out the right side of the photo, the magnetic lasso tool was needed so that when the image was changed to black and white the sign would stay the same.
When you change the image to black and white play with the levels to get the right match, also change the sign to glow and stand out.
I love this photo, it goes well with the Eiffel Tower photo.

Photo 6- I AM Amsterdam
Before
In this photo I wanted to just see I Amsterdam. That meant omitting a lot of people and objects, much harder than you think! With that said take it slow and don't get so mad.
As you can see I had to remove all those people using the clone tool. The clone tool was great it made the "r" look like an "r" again. Pick out parts of the picture that will make the change look real.
A lot of the clone tool was used and the crop tool. This was extremely tedious, take the time to etch out everything and blend well.

Photo 5- Place De Varsovie, Eiffel Tower
Before
This photo needed some help due to the darkness in the photo.I thought that the sign needed to be emphasized and with the Eiffel Tower in the background it could make for an even better image. I love the way this photo turned out it's very retro.
The tools used were a lot to do with adjustments and levels. Changing the levels of noise, black and white. Basically just play around with the curves see what you like either more black or more white.

Photo 4- A Canal Ride in Amsterdam
Before
In this photo I decided to take everything off the boat, the writing, number, and small anchors. In this photo I wanted to brighten it up to bring out the water and the other boats on the canal.
The tools I used were the clone tool on the boat and the water. Now be careful with the clone tool so that things don't look to fake, and adjust the size and hardness of the brush as needed. To brighten up the color I went to adjustments and levels and fooled around with the curve balance.

Photo 3- A Day in Pere Lachaise Cemetery
Before
This photo was a pretty photo to begin with, so why not take this photo and make it darker somewhat suiting since it is in a cemetery.
I went to the styles option in the right task bar and scrolled through a few styles and chose this one, then I changed the levels of the curves to make the door stand out as well as the letter B.
This photo was one of the simpler ones, but it still looks cool and different than the original. Keep that in mind it doesn't always have to be an extreme change to the photo.

Photo 2-Statue in Paris
Before
For this photo I wanted to fix the broken finger of the statue, remove the boat, brighten the photo, and take out the people on the walkway.
The hardest part of this photo was the finger and trying to make the arm look realistic. Much to my surprise was removing the boat was pretty simple again using the clone tool.
The tools I used in this photo were the clone tool for the finger, arm, boat, and walkway. Also I used adjustments and curves to change the contrast in the photo, and I touched up the gold in the stick.

Photo 1-Pigeons in the Park
Before
This photo was a great starting off point. I wanted to erase the shadows in the picture, enhance the pigeons drinking from the water, and blur the image a bit.
The tools I predominantly used was the clone tool to erase the shadows by cloning the rocks. Another tool is the magnetic lasso, this was used to mask the object (pigeons) and hit the inverse option, and use the Gaussian blur on the background.
I like this photo, although it is farely easier then the other photos, these mini projects take longer than you think. So be patient and take your time.

Let's try out this thing called Photoshop!
Now I just want to make it clear I AM A BEGINNER, this is my first time using the program. I will photoshop 10 photos of my own, changing aspects of them such as black and white, enhancing colors, omitting objects, cartoon an image, and so forth.
Again I am a beginner, which in it of itself is a benfit. This is all new to me and if it is for you have fun with it play around nothing is ever final! The theme of my photos is pictures taken while I visited Europe, and a few random photos that I thought would be cool to showcase.
So stay tuned the next few posts will be of my beautifully enhanced artwork using Photoshop CS5.

How to Get Started
First things first, download Adobe Photoshop CS5. Now it is your choice to either buy or preview the program, if you choose to preview Photoshop it will be a 30 day trial. I would test the program out and see how quickly you can navigate and learn the program before buying it.
For me, I just want to know the basics; the ins and outs of Photoshop. Figure out if you want to edit some photos, brush up on some skills, or actually learn some techniques. There are many avenues to turn to besides this blog. Books, tutorials, and Adobe gives some lessons.
